Timing cover tool for GL1200 is a special wrench to fit the hard to reach bolts of the timing cover to avoid removing the radiator. One end of the wrench is for breaking loose and tightening the bolt and the other end is for spinning off the bolt after loosening.
TIP FOR REMOVAL:
THE STEEL TIMING COVER ALLEN BOLTS MAY BE LIGHTLYCORRODED INTO PLACE IN THE CAST ALLOY TIMING COVERS. PLACE THE LONG END OF THE ALLEN TIPPED TOOL INTO EACH BOLT, AND VERY GENTLY APPLY PRESSURE. IF IT RESISTS, AND WILL NOT MOVE, GIVE THE JAMMED BOLT A SOAKING WITH REGULAR SUGAR TYPE COCA COLA. IT SOMETIMES TAKES A BIT OF SOAKING TO FREE THEM UP. THE CARBONIC ACID PRESENT IN COKE ALONG WITH ITS SUGAR FORMULA MAKES A GREAT IRON OXIDE REDUCER (RUST REMOVER) OTHERWISE, YOU MIGHT BUST THE TOOL TIP OFF IF YOU APPLY TOO MUCH PRESSURE. AS ONE CAN SEE, THERE IS NOT TOO MUCHROOM TO PUT A MEATY GLOB OF WELD ON A SMALL TOOLTHAT HAS TO GO INTO SUCH A TIGHT PLACE.
