Mirror-polished stainless steel GL1500 trunk rack comes with all mounting hardware but has manufacturing flaws. The main perimeter frame was created with about a 5mm twist making one of the four "legs" a bit short although it is the correct length. The Fix?
Clamp the trunk rack into a vice, protecting the tubing with a buffer, and either twist it into the correct shape OR grind 3/16" off the leg. Remember this is stainless steel so there is no chrome to break or crack! These racks have random spots missed by the polishing process but the stainless welding is beautifully smoothed and polished like chrome. A buffing wheel on a 3/8 (.375) inch drill can be used to polish out the missed patches.
DISCLAIMER: The chance of lining up the legs of any brand of trunk rack to the bolt holes that already exist on your trunk lid is extremely slim given the many hundreds of trunk racks styles made during the past 4 decades. Most of those makers no longer exist. Consequently, we cannot guarantee the legs of our racks will line up to your existing bolt holes. We sell our 93-335 star washers to minimize the "damage" if a hole has to be made larger to accommodate the location of a new bolt hole.
