Saber Cycle was the first to bring back the obsoleted Fuel Petcock (Gas Tap) for GL1000, GL1100 and 84-86 GL1200. It replaces 16950-371-015 and 16950-371-025 and includes the two port o-rings. This petcock provides a "reserve" function that did not appear on the original GL1200 petcock, 16950-MG9-005. Outside diameter of port is 6.55 mm and inside diameter is 3.88 m.

NOTE: This petcock will not fit 87 GL1200 because the body, inlet and outlet are larger than other model years and the mounting points don't line up. This petcock will not replace the fuel shut off on the fuel injected 85 Limited and 86 SEI GL1200. Some customers have replaced the o-rings/seals to stop leaking and there are many online o-ring stores.

Better than original

Being all metal I would say these are better than original. Fit as it should. Knowing the original is plastic at the hose fitting I would replace it before it breaks.

Works great on 1200

Bolts right up on my 86 gl1200 (carbureted). The reserve setting acts as an additional shutoff position since the 1200 doesn't have a reserve.

Works Great

New fuel petcock works very well. It was a little rough to turn at first but after some use it is smooth just like the one it replaced. The difference is the new fuel petcock does not leak like the old one. Thanks for a great product.

Saber's Fuel Valve

Saber, I just wanted to say great job on the fuel petcock gas tap. I had a customer's bike in my shop who's petcock on his bike was leaking. Of course, when you look online the OEM site for a replacement, with a bike that old good luck in finding one. I remembered ordering an out of stock OEM from Saber before, which they had, so I looked at their website and found it. Thank you for the quality, great price and fast shipping!

Q: I have an '87 GL1200 Aspencade. The ports on the back and the metal flow line are smaller on this petcock than the one on there. I'm confused and do not know if this will work or replace the OEM one, which is what's on there I imagine.

A: We wouldn't sell as described if it didn't work on GL1200. You didn't mention what the port difference is on your petcock but variances in mm can be miniscule. The OEM petcock for GL1200 is obsolete but you may find NOS of 16950-MG9-005 and 16950-ML8-601. Or, you can opt to rebuild as there are how-to videos. Our petcock customers would rather screw on a new one and get on their way.

Q: Good morning, I have a 1985 Golding GL1200 Limited with fuel injection, is this the right part because it is fuel injected?

A: No, it does not and the petcock rebuild kit for the 87 GL1200 Asp also will not work. Thankfully the fuel shutoff is only needed during maintenance. If yours is leaking, measure the o-rings/seals then find replacements at an online o-ring store and there are several.

Q: I purchased this petcock last year on 9/16. It now seems to have a leak under vacuum, as I can see air introduced to the inlet line from the petcock while riding. With a full tank of fuel, it doesn't matter which position it's in (on or reserve), I can see air being introduced. Do you offer a warranty on these? I couldn't find anything on the item page or in the description.
