Our battery charger uses a safe .5 amp trickle charge and has optional 6 or 12 volt operation, a power indicator light, automatic shutoff switch that prevents overcharging and is compact and easy to store.
The charger plugs into a 110 volt outlet and the leads stay permanently affixed to the battery terminals. It can also be used for car, boat, snowmobile or jet ski batteries as well! Why pay more for a "Tender" that does the same thing?
Maintenance schedule: Honda advises checking your battery monthly or every 4000 miles or 6400 km - whichever comes first.
During the summer, a typical Gold Wing rider does a lot of low RPM night cruising with lights, stereo and accessories switched on resulting in chronic discharge of the battery. The battery will not be able to fully charge with the drain of electrical accessories add ons which may cause the battery to die prematurely. Preserve your battery with a charger or tender.
